How to overcome jealousy and envy

This content has been archived. It may no longer be relevant

Jealousy refers to thoughts or feelings of insecurity. Fear and concern over a relative lack of possessions or safety. It consists of one or more emotions such as anger, resentment, inadequacy, helplessness or disgust.

Envy is the feeling of discontentment or resentful longing aroused by someone else’s possessions, qualities or luck.

Emulation is the effort to match or surpass a person or achievement, typically by imitation or reproduction of a function or action.

We are still on the course of God and His promises.

How to really see the promise come to fruition. The last two days we have been doing foundational work. Today will not be any different.

So far I have shown you how to ready yourself to receive the promises of God. I have also helped you understand the process of deliverance and your role in it. So that you won’t have to be scammed by false preachers and prophets. Therein I elaborated what you do while you wait on the promises of God.

I clearly illustrated you need no one but Him. I also rebuked those liars who I can’t stand and now I want to help you understand the tactics of your enemies.

My aim now is to prepare you for the war you will face.

You will be set up. Intimidated. Sabotaged. Attacked on the rear. Ensnared. Pits will be dug. Obstacles will be set up against you. You will be monitored. Cursed in secret and even to your face.

These activities will be done by either one of these guys. Those who are in your “church”, institutions, household, workplace and circle of friends.

Through it all God will allow it to happen for your good. You will see.

Detecting the Signs

  • Have you ever heard of people who get angry when they see somebody looking good?
  • Have you ever met people who don’t show appreciation or depreciation when something good happens to you or others?
  • Have you ever met copy cats? You share an idea with them and they go and do exactly what you planned to do if they wont demoralize you?
  • Have you ever heard of people who are attracted only to married men and women? They want what you have?
  • Have you done your research and heard of “preachers” who curse others?
  • Have you ever worked, lived or been friends with people who find every reason to criticise what you do? No matter how hard you try?
  • Have you ever heard statements such as “who does he/she think he/she is”? “He/she thinks she knows it all”… “he/she thinks he/she is special”…?
  • Have you ever met people who curse people out at random? “She/he is ugly” “look at her face” “you will never be…” “you will never do…” and in fact some do it in God’s name?
  • Have you ever spoken to people who seem to twist/contradict everything you say? You say A and they make it sound like B? Then you have to get in trouble defending yourself? (God calls this the fraud of the tongue)
  • Have you ever been in a situation where people’s attitude change towards you when something good happens to you?
  • Have you ever shared your plans with certain people and suddenly you meet roadblocks?
  • Have you ever been despised for no reason? You just seem to not get along with someone even if you mean well at heart?
  • Have you ever been accused falsely?
  • For you “influencers”. Have you ever read your comments (i read them from time to time). There are several people there who seem to take things very personal. Like they have many names to call you and you have never met?

Let’s get into the Word of God and let me explain to you what’s happening on their side and on your side.

A good general will tell you, you ‘fight better’ when you know and understand your enemy.

I have come to learn evil and bad things will continue to be there. Until the Lord finishes His wondrous works and it’s not so much about what is happening but how we are responding. A lot of these “bad things” that happen, work for good to those who believe.

Otherwise, all the people that do such things as this and I say all, are involved with one or all of these: sorcery, magic, spiritism, divination, idolatry and witchcraft.

They stay alive by feeding on the suffering of others. Either mentally, emotionally, physically or spiritually.

Their best technique is Trauma, Intimidation and for some murder. If you trace most personal problems they will most of them lead back more especially to trauma.

Meaning the problems began after you experienced something traumatising either at home, in your “church”, in a relationship, work place or whatever sphere of influence.

The enemy likes you sad, weak, angry, in fear, helpless, doubtful, oppressed and depressed. So that they can do the evil and wicked illegal transaction from you.

A lot of people you see walking tall and in pomp, they are not who they seem to portray themselves to be.

They have also managed to be that pompous by voraciously destroying others. I gave examples yesterday and I will continue to give examples.

Isaiah 47:12 Stand fast in your spells and in your many sorceries with which you have laboured from your youth: perhaps you will be able to profit. Perhaps you may cause trembling. You are wearied with your many counsels: Let now the astrologers, those who prophesy by the stars, those who predict by the new moons, stand up and save you from what will come upon you.

Important to note, you don’t fight them. The devil wants you to fear, fight and react. You do exactly the opposite and God will be there to strengthen you.

“The weapons of our warfare are not carnal”.

Spiritual understanding of Jealousy, Envy and Emulation

The best way to solve a problem is by analysing the root cause. Look at the cause to understand the effect.

When there is a problem with a fruit on a tree, you don’t analyse the fruit, you look at the root of that tree and maybe even the soil. Then you will understand the fruit.

Like the problems we have in this generation unbeknownst to most, is caused by the mistakes of those who are older than us. We are the fruits and they are the roots. It is a generational flaw.

So, what is the root cause of jealousy and envy which is the main reason of emulation?

By emulation I mean for example, you see someone preaching the gospel and then out of rivalry you do the same yet you don’t even understand spiritual matters. Someone shares a dream with you, you go and do the same yet you don’t have the vision that’s on their mind. So on and so forth.

God took the prophet Ezekiel to a spiritual scene where He shows him the rotten things that the so called “believers” do. Ezekiel explained:

The spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looks towards the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy.

The glory of God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain. Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up your eyes now the way toward the north.

So I lifted up my eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.

He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, do you see what they do? Even the great abominations that the house of Israel commit here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn yet again and you shall see greater abominations.

He brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. Then He said to me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door. He said to me, go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.

So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall round about.

There stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.

Son of man, do you see what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the Lord sees us not; the Lord has forsaken the earth.

He said to me, turn yet again and you will see greater abominations that they do. Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the Lord’s house which was toward the north; and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

He said do you see this son of man? turn yet again, and you will see greater abominations than these. He brought me into the inner court of the Lord’s house, and behold, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

He said to me, do you see this, son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and lo they put the branch to their nose.

Therefore will I also deal in fury: my eyes shall not spare, neither will I have pity: though they cry in my eyes with a loud voice, yet I will not hear them.

As you can see from Ezekiel’s vision, truly indeed, there is every evil practice.

James wrote:

If you harbour bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast in it or deny the truth.

Such wisdom does not come from above, but it is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.

For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every evil practice.

It is not normal to get angry when others are doing well or are differently excellent in their own measure.

When we turn to idolatry and evil practices our brains become depraved and people start behaving like the idols they worship. That’s why too when you look at a witch, sorcerer and idolater, their actions, about all of them, don’t make sense.

Or haven’t you ever looked at someone and wondered why would someone do such a thing? Usually, their brain is not working right.

This is because, you become like who you worship.

Psalm 115:4-8

Their idols are silver and gold made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes but cannot see.

They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell.

They have hands, but cannot feel, feet but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats.

Those who make them will be like them and so will all who trust in them.

If you care to look a bit more closely, “religious” countries perform very poorly compared to countries that are not “religious”.

Those “religious” countries, worship a form of imagery and their traditions and they think they worship God. They do “self-righteous” acts.

I actually can’t stand religion even in the slightest form because religious people are the cause of all the confusion. They cluster themselves in one building and not only tarnish the reputation of God but also the true gospel that is Jesus Christ.

You know too, Jesus Christ was put on the cross by these religious people. As they still do the same today.

They like to bring His name up only to blaspheme the name with their actions. This has resulted to disbelief and many people who can live in freedom are in bondage.

They hide there in their wickedness almost like a high school clique and look down on everybody else when they are not even doing what they ought to do. Instead they are fooling people and doing extremely detestable things.

That’s why I can’t stand them.

A lot of their “churches” are about control, manipulation and greed for power and money, it’s a business for them in the name of the Holy one, whereas the members want a “blessing” and “miracle”. Both are not true worshippers.

They act based on “traditions of men made by rote” and ignorance.

“These people honour Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. They worship me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men”.

As you can see nature demonstrates very clearly, there is room for each one of us to do and be well, each at God’s appointed time and season.

We all cannot be the same, think the same and have the same. We don’t need to compete against each other.

Greatness lies in equal measure within all of us. We don’t need to be chaotic, feel threatened, hateful, jealous, envious and turn to be witches, magicians and sorcerers!!

Interestingly enough, You are me and I am you. Irregardless of your skin colour. In the Kingdom of God there is no black or white. Spirit has no colour or even gender folks. “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus”.

We all bleed red. Blood is life and the source of life above, within and without is Jesus Christ.

You who is walking in Christ Jesus, I want to point out to you what your problem is if you are doing things right.

Worry not though because as we speak, the sceptre of justice and righteousness is already at work. It will enter every house and city. Everybody will be rewarded according to their own deeds.

Your job? To ensure that you keep the faith, commandments, pray always and beware of the potential to be sabotaged.

The next article I will show you how it works in the “church” and among the “members” practically.

Examples of Sabotage in the Word caused by Jealousy, Envy and Emulation

Jealousy, Envy and emulation are the origin of all strife and disorder.

  1. Cain and Abel: Envy wrought the death of a brother.
  2. Jacob and Esau: It was envy that caused Jacob to flee from the face of Esau
  3. Joseph sold to Egypt: It was envy that caused him to be persecuted even to a point of death almost and came into bondage
  4. Envy and jealousy caused Moses to flee from the face of King Pharaoh of Egypt when he heard his own people ask him “who made you judge and ruler over us”?
  5. Envy and Jealousy caused Miriam to be shut out from the rest of the camp for seven days.
  6. Emulation sent Dathan and Abiram quickly to the grave because they raised a sedition against Moses the servant of God
  7. Envy caused David to be hated by strangers and was persecuted by Saul the King of Israel
  8. Zeal and Envy has caused the most faithful and righteous pillars of the True Church to be persecuted to death. The best example being Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
  9. The true Apostles and disciples have undergone great pains and torment because of jealousy, envy and emulation

Envy, Jealousy, Emulation and strife is overturning governments, businesses, institutions, friendships, relationships, families, organisations and administrative structures.

As a true disciple of Jesus Christ you will share with Him in the same sufferings. He too died on the cross through envy and jealousy that led to betrayal and persecution.

However He says, “blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”.

In addition to that, “the resurrection power and Kingdom” within you will be activated when your enemies put you on that cross of persecution.

It will be painful to have the nails cross through your palms analogically speaking but like Jesus rose from the dead, that is how you will rise in spirit. Transform from your fleshly nature to your heavenly nature.

So it has to happen and you have to persevere if you understand the bigger picture. “After you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you”.

Until His coming, there will always be a spiritual war between the Sons of truth and the sons of injustice. Even worse “a man’s enemy will come from his own household”.

What is interesting, “The Lord has made everything for His purposes-even the wicked for the day of disaster”. We can’t get rid of the wicked unless God puts it in their hearts to repent and receive Grace and Mercy.

He says “pray for those who persecute you” so that through you they might be forgiven for what they will do against you.

When you see your enemies however means they will be revealed to you, you have to pray for them that they don’t get destroyed. Pray too for a heart of forgiveness.

God is behind all spirits. I will give the same example again.

He stirred up the spirit of Saul to pursue David. For Saul it was to destroy him for David, to save him.

He hardened the heart of Pharaoh when He sent Moses, to strengthen him as the servant, to destroy the king and save the Israelites.

He permitted the devil to torment Job to strengthen his faith and preserve his soul. Severally I have seen Him stir up spirits for His own purpose which is always good.

When you see it seems like people are against you, if you’re not repenting, give thanks and pray for strength for the joy that comes out of it does not compare to the tribulations.

Your enemies will make you obedient to God without which none can receive His glory. That’s why David says “I learn obedience through suffering”.

It was the enemies of David that made him a great warrior, a man after God’s heart, wonderful musician of praise and competent leader with integrity before God.

You must be thinking of what he did with Uriah’s wife after I said this? He was ensnared. Story for another day but you see God used the situation and made a blessing out of it.

Always try your best to receive all that happens to you with Joy and thanksgiving. Keep with repentance for none of us is righteous before God.

Could you imagine, there are 24 elders seated with Him at His throne yet He doesn’t find them righteous enough? What of us on earth then? Lastly, to know Jesus Christ is to drink from His cup.

This is the meaning of Ezekiel’s prophecy

  • The door of the inner gate is the heart of man which is a spiritual place of worshipping God in truth and spirit.
  • The seat of the image of Jealousy which provokes to Jealousy is the throne of God that has been replaced with Idols of man.

You see God is a jealous God and a consuming fire.

When He is replaced with an idol, you see the people who worship the idols become Jealous like a god but against people.

It becomes that they cannot stand anything that is good. This is because of a spiritual backwardness caused by depravity. God cannot stand what is bad, idol worshippers cannot stand what is good.

The way God cannot stand us worshipping pieces of wood, deities and His creation, they become like that but in a backward and destructive sense. As punishment.

  • The gate of the altar of His image is the place of prayer to God replaced with prayer to idols
  • A hole in the wall is the hypocrisy of the spirit of man before God
  • Form of creeping things, abominable beasts and all idols are the examples of the things they have lifted up in worship against God. For example Bulls of Baal which are in many families as a matter of fact, water spirits among others I will not discuss here.
  • The seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel standing there including Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan is the worship of heavenly deities.

I know today there are people who worship angels and former saints and think they are doing something good.

  • Every man in the chambers of his imagery means every man worshipping the idols of their hearts
  • Women weeping for Tammuz means the worship of an Egyptian god associated with fertility and vegetation.

Also concerning Tammuz he is the jesus of modern day “christianity” which is pagan at most. he also represents the jesus you see in images and statues. The celebrations of easter, christmas among other things they do is for this jesus-Tammuz. The one who is not.

This Tammuz has mythically been compared to Jesus because he died on the cross like Him. The difference is that Jesus Christ died for the sins of humanity while Tammuz was crucified out of rage by his lover.

Tammuz appears to only save people from physical starvation and death whereas the true Jesus Christ saves people from sin and judgment for disobedience to God Almighty.

  • Between the porch and the altar-five and twenty men with their backs towards the temple of the Lord and their faces towards the east-they worshipped the sun towards the east means the servants of God who have turned their backs against Him to worship the sun
  • They filled the land with violence and returned to provoke me to anger. This means, due to their idolatry, they have disrupted spiritual matters causing the true worshippers of God to be constantly at war further angering the Lord. They are the reason why there is no peace in the world and in the “church”. God delights in peace and calls us all to live in peace but because of Idolaters we are constantly in a spiritual warfare.

Hence “from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of heaven has been subject to violence, and the violent claim to it”.

This was said right after John the Baptist was beheaded for speaking the truth!!

The children of righteousness to whom belongs the Kingdom, are the spiritual reference to “heaven” and are subject to violence from the wicked. Which is the cause of tribulations.

These violent people, who are the idol worshippers, claim their righteousness through violence. They claim it to destroy them. They have a lust for righteous blood. That’s why the pharisees crucified the Lord. They beat up the apostles. They killed the prophets in their religiousness, which has no relationship whatsoever with righteousness.

Now I have seen the foolish teaching that you need to pray with violence to receive what you want. In fact some “churches” like to chant “die by fire”. That’s not what the scripture means!! We must stop misusing the word of God.

  • Putting the branch to the nose means burdening the Lord with their wickedness
  • They say the Lord sees us not, the Lord has forsaken the earth. This is because God is slow to anger and patient with His children so that they may repent. In their heads, which become depraved, due to their idolatry, they don’t stop to think and so they increase in wickedness.

If you know that you have looked at someone doing good and you responded with negativity/evil

Rather than be happy for them, even praise God and take courage that if He is doing it for someone He can do it for you too

This is the point where you ask God for forgiveness and He will generously grant you Grace and Mercy without begrudging you.

From now on, moving forward, there is no room for nonsense. I am actually not writing this because I do not have anything better to do. I am warning you beforehand to make straight your paths.

As I said in my previous article the “rain” has started pouring and it will increase to a flood. I told that story DELIBERATELY. So, give heed.

Ask Him to change your heart for He has promised “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh”.

If you know you are the type to be genuinely happy when something good happens to someone and appreciate those who are better than you in their own measure, “do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up”.

As unrepentant hearts get colder, pray that God will keep your heart in a spirit of Love in its truest and purest form. In both good and bad times.

I have learned that we can only genuinely Love when Jesus Christ synonymous to Love takes over our hearts. Without Him its impossible. You will burn out at some point.

  1. Lead and live in Love for those around you.
  2. Repent of divisions and the merciful Father will forgive you
  3. Lay aside vain and empty cares and come up to the glorious and venerable rule of our holy calling
  4. Consider what is good, acceptable and well pleasing in the sight of God.
  5. Look steadfastly to the Blood of Jesus Christ and realize how precious His blood is in the sight of God which being shed for our salvation, obtained Grace of repentance for all the world.
  6. Search into all the ages that have gone before us and let us learn that our Lord has in every one of them still given place for repentance to all who turn back to Him

“Though your sins should reach from earth to heaven and though they shall be redder than scarlet and blacker than sackcloth if you turn to me with all your heart and call me Father I will hearken unto you as a Holy people”

“Wash and make yourselves clean. Put away evil doings from My eyes, cease to do evil, learn to do well, seek righteous judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge for the fatherless, plead for the widow”

“If you are willing and obedient you will eat of the good land but if you refuse and rebel you will be devoured by the sword for the mouth of the Lord has spoken”

This my friends, is how you overcome Jealousy, Envy and Emulation.

God means well for all of us without favouritism as long as we keep the Faith and His commandments. There is no need for scrambling and contentions. We all have a chance to bloom and grow as tall as the cedars of Lebanon.

You who is going through trials and tribulations you don’t need to worry.

Power, wealth, riches, everything and everyone on earth belong unto Him. He is capable of richly blessing those who keep the Faith and His commandments, with equal measure.

Everyone with a gift of their kind, a purpose of their kind and mission of their kind. To work together for good.

“You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures”.

Remember when I told you my matcha story and experience?

Since Matcha, it had been a while since I saw my Moroccan guy and friend, who has good stuff.

So one day I decided to pay him a visit at his store.

To my surprise, he moved and opened a new store somewhere else. I decided to go exactly where he was.

Lo and behold, he had progressed so well in business and expanded.

He now has a beautiful professional store which he designed by himself in a big mall. I will tell you he did a fantastic job!! The store is full of moroccan utensils, spices, papyrus bags, handmade leather bags, attires, teas, oils especially Argan in its purest form, all sorts of natural beauty products etc.

When I got in the store, I don’t know why but I was so happy for him. I said “Wow!! I will not bother asking how you are doing because I can see you are doing well”. There was a witness! I’m not making this up!

I congratulated him. Complimented a thing and two. From my heart, by the way in case you are wondering, I was so happy for him and his wife.

We talked here and there, got the purchase and off we went. On my way back, I was still fascinated and very glad of his progress because I remember he started with a small stall and was selling in a public squeezed space.

Here is now where it gets interesting. On my side, I had asked God for a favor a while back, with an issue and I forgot about it.

Somehow, shortly after visiting the Moroccan guy, I got an answered prayer and you know God is a gentleman.

My answered prayer came in form of a phone text, first thing when I woke up. Like I opened my eyes and my phone vibrated. I was so happy. I danced around, praised God and here I am.

Moral of the story: Be happy for others.

A lot of times God is watching your attitude towards people when they get blessed.

The Woman with the Garden of Roses

There was a woman who had a garden of roses.

She had a neighbour who hated her for no reason. Everyday, this neighbour would take cow dung from her cow stead and throw it in her neighbours garden through the fence.

The woman who owned the garden of roses saw what was happening and decided to ignore it. With a pure heart she went about her daily business.

Her neighbour on the other hand, kept throwing cow dung through the fence. With spite, she wanted to destroy her neighbours garden of roses. In her heart she thought, maybe the cow dung will pile up on the garden and ruin it.

Then came in the rain and sunshine after sometime. Both the sunshine and the rain caused the cow dung to fertilize the garden of roses.

The woman with the garden of roses rejoiced greatly for her roses bloomed and bloomed even more. They looked healthier. They were more beautiful compared to how they were before the spiteful neighbour threw cow dung in her garden.

Talk later.
